This is a simple but powerful exercise to strengthen the abs and the core, the muscles that support the spine.

Steps
1. Get down on a mat on your hands and knees.
2. Keep your back straight and your hips and pelvis in a neutral position.
3. Draw your abs in, crunching your abs while keeping your back still. Hold for a moment and then release returning to the starting position.
Tips
This exercise requires very little movement just the flexing, or drawing in, of your abdominal muscles.
